Listening to more George Antheil

I've been listening a lot to George Antheil's string quartets and Serenade No. 1, which are delightful. His music sounds a bit like Stravinsky, which is not surprising given Stravinsky's influence on the music world in the early part of the 20th century. There are also some of the repeating patterns found in today's minimalist music in these string pieces. Perhaps this was Antheil's interest in duplicating the sound of machines, as in his Ballet Mechanique. Another piece that's great is his Symphony for 5 Instruments.
